Swingcopation brings you many years of dance, performance and teaching experience. Founded in 2009 to bring the excitement, energy and fun of the swing-era dances back to London audiences, Swingcopation provides a bespoke service for entertainment and education based on our love of swing dance.
Benjamin Cook - Founder & Principal Dancer
Ben began swing dancing back in 2006, in his hometown of Melbourne, Australia. After quickly learning to love lindy hop, Charleston, jazz and the many other dances of the era, Ben sought out new ways to bring the dance to others. Initially, he was accepted into Swing Patrol's Brat Pack (a developmental troupe for aspiring performers), and progressed quickly to 'Harlem Shout' - a dedicated troupe of professional dancers performing for corporate audiences Melbourne-wide. It was here that he found his groove, and obtained a long list of performance credits and invaluable experience.
Not satisfied with simply showing people what these swing dances looked like, Ben began teaching swing in 2008 and has become well known for his enthusiasm and vibrant classes. Seeking adventure, Ben moved to London in 2009 to help launch Swing Patrol in the UK, and teaches several nights a week all over London.
Eager to bring the excitement of swing to London crowds, and keep this amazing dance alive, Ben founded Swingcopation to entertain, educate, and enjoy!
